Natty Nation:

100% independent Hard Roots Rock Reggae & Dub--this is the unique blend of music that is NATTY NATION.

The Roots Festival is always a good time and NATTY is pleased to be invited back for the third time.

2009 marks their 14th anniversary of keeping the positive messages of their unique indigenous Wisconsin reggae beats throbbing through the heartland, sharing the stage with and backing up reggae legends like Lee "Scratch" Perry, Ziggy, Damian & Stephen Marley, Sister Carol, Steel Pulse, Burning Spear, Wailing Souls, Culture with Joseph Hill, Beenie Man, & countless others.

NATTY NATION returns to the Summerfest Stage in 2009 opening for The Wailers at 8 pm on June 30th. In August they will travel south to headline The Bricktown Reggae Fest in Oklahoma City and The Veggie Fest in Illinois.

They bring 14 years of performance experience, 14 years of songs from a great original 60+ song catalog, and a 14-year fan base throughout the country & abroad! In late 2008 NATTY NATION completed a 5 country tour in the Middle East and Africa entertaining U.S. service men and women. A brief tour video by Armin Doneis is at: http://www.youtube.com/nattynation.

NATTY NATION has experience playing festivals, events, and other venues from coast to coast and abroad, performing at hundreds of clubs, theaters, outdoor music festivals and military bases abroad, including Summerfest, SXSW, CMJ Music Marathon, Millenium Music Conference, Atlantis Music Conference, Wookiefoot's Harvestfest, Bob Marley Fest in Florida, Freakfest, Veggie Fest, Habitat for Humanity's 100th House Celebration, & several others.

Their messages of peace, love, community, & spreading positive vibrations has been ringing out since NATTY's inception in 1995.

JAH Boogie and his backing band's tight but fluid, rootsy but funky, beautiful but gritty, righteous but real vibration is clear to anyone listening to their music, either at a show or on their stereo.

The NATTY Crew is humbled to accept several awards during their 14 years, including:

•6 Madison Area Music Awards (MAMAs) in 2009, including Best World Artist, Album ("Reincarnation"), Song ("Reincarnation"), Urban Song ("Greed"), Male Vocalist (JAH Boogie), & Guitarist (Louka Patenaude)
•7 MAMAs in 2008, including the overall Entertainer of the Year, Best World Artist, Album ("Seth's Picks"), & Song ("Hurricane"), which was also selected as the first song on a CD to benefit the ever-growing homeless population in Madison.
•Broadjam's international song of the month "Cool & Proper"
•Selection for the highly sought after Armed Forces Entertainment tour of the Middle East & Africa playing for the troops
•Wisconsin Area Music Award (WAMI) for Best Reggae/World/Ska Artist of the Year
•Best World Artist or Group for five years of the Isthmus' Newspaper's readers poll and many more

It's almost impossible not to dance at a NATTY live performance.  Every NATTY NATION concert is a different experience. Their energy is infections & their dubtastic jams are complex, yet their message is simple--spread the positive vibration.

Gotta a Basketball Jones
Once the college hoops tourney begins I love to play one particular song before the Badgers tip off.  It's Basketball Jones. In the mid 70's Cheech and Chong created this rather annoying song, but it's a must this time of year.  There are a few notables playing with Cheech and Chong including George Harrison on lead guitar, Carole [...]
