5 Best Great Taste Beer Names

August 14, 2017

Another Great Taste of the Midwest Beer Festival is on the books--and no, I did not try all 1200 beers that were available!

Here's a list of some of the funniest beer names I encountered on my journey through the land of hops and barley:

1. Butterfly Farts from Brenner Brewery in Milwaukee. I did try this fruity session beer, and it was okay.

2. Dandelion Disco Ball from Dryhop Brewery from Chicago. This was an APA. I didn't try it, but I bet it was better than some of the dandelion concoctions I used to mix up in the back yard.

3. Drunkelberry from Lena Brewing Company, Lena Illinois. I had to try a beer with this great name. It was a dunkelweizen with black raspberry and was pretty good.

4. Jolly Cougar Meloncamp from Mad Anthony in Fort Wayne Indiana. I can't believe I missed this wheat beer made with Jolly Rancher watermelon candies!

5. Oachkatzlschwoaf from Urban Chestnut in St. Louis. This one means "tail of a squirrel" in German is an Oktoberfest beer. Almost as fun to say as Schnickelfritz, which is another one of theirs!

You might be wondering what my favorite beer was at the Fest. I loved the Peanut Butter Porter from Dangerous Man in Minneapolis and a Strawberry Milkshake IPA but at the moment I can't remember the brewery. I will do some research and get back to you!
