The Kelsey Miles Band

The Kelsey Miles Band is a high energy rock, blues, and soul band, and loves sharing LIVE music. Kelsey moved from Ohio to Wisconsin in 2013 after everything in her life had turned upside down. She picked up the guitar in 2014 and right away began writing music and started playing at various jams and open mics. In 2016 she met her lead guitarist, Patrick Stillman at an open jam and was later joined by Scott Chazan on drums, and Conrad St. Clair on bass. In 2017 they were nominated as New Artist of the Year in Madison (MAMAs) and in Wisconsin by the Wisconsin Area Music Industry (WAMI). Each month this four-piece is the house band for two venues: on the first friday of each month see them at Mr. Brews Taphouse in Madison off of high crossing Blvd and on the fourth friday of each month at The Grist in Lake Mills. You can catch an evening of their originals and cover tunes this summer at venues/events such as High Noon Saloon in Madison, Anchor Inn in Ft. Atkinson, Tyanena Brewery, City Lights Brewery in Milwaukee, Bratfest, and the Wisconsin State fair.

They are excited to be part of the 105.5 Triple M Project M competition and look forward to sharing their music on the Funk's Pub stage. This is a special place for them. It's the venue where the Kelsey Miles Band got it's start! The band is releasing 4 singles over the next 4 months and is currently working on a new album. For this duo competition, Kelsey Miles and Scott Chazan on drums have teamed up to bring you a new song for each new challenge. Perhaps they'll make the cut for the 2018 album.

Creating something out of nothing is addicting. We love writing new music and being a part of Project M has really pushed us. You never know what you are going to get when you put a deadline on art;)

We start each challenge from scratch. Although our full band has a full repertoire of originals, we have have taken up an extra challenge of writing brand new material to share with you.

There are so many great duos performing at this event, so come on out on a Monday night and let's share some new music.

Challenge #1 was to write a song about 'My New Life. Chapter 1'

My life was burning at both ends

Working too many hours to try and forget

Eleven years of my life wasted away on my pride

Building a castle for a dream that was never mine

But I knew regret was too hard to swallow
So I kept my head down and lived a live I borrowed
One day I wrote to the world, I lost my faith in the sun
That very day, I turned a page, and now I'm at chapter 1

Chorus

Follow the light that destiny shines on you
No comprise, when you’re searching for your truth
Comfort is easy to choose, but do you feel alive?
I'd give it up, I'd give it up every time

Well no one warned me of the fight I would face

I work longer hours and I still have my dark days

But I’m resting my head on a truth that I belive in

And when I leave this world, I’ll know I left for a reason

Chorus

Follow the light that destiny shines on you
No comprise, when you’re searching for your truth
Comfort is easy to choose, but do you feel alive?
I'd give it up, I'd give it up every time

I can feel it coming x9

Chorus

Follow the light that destiny shines on you
No comprise, when you’re searching for your truth
Comfort is easy to choose, but do you feel alive?
I'd give it up, I'd give it up every time

I'd give it up, I'd give it up for my new life

I'd give it up, I'd give it up every time

This week we were asked to write a song about attire.

This song is called Emerald dress and is inspired by jealousy.

'I hide my crazy, but this gypsy envy feels alive'

Challenge #4

Emerald Dress

Tonight my blue eyes are a different hue

No surprise I changed my mind again on you

Follow the call of the siren a mesmerizing fate

When you come back to me, I'll remind you of this mistake

You say my blue eyes match my dress tonight

I hide my crazy, but this gypsy envy feels alive

Chorus:

Ooh Wearing my emerald dress tonight

Ooh Wearing my emerald dress tonight

Her melody soothes you and warms your soul anew

Chimes in the wind oh I know you’re at it again

Come back to me now and you'll find I'll still forgive

But I won't forget the way she tasted on your lips.

You say my blue eyes match my dress tonight

I hide my crazy, but this gypsy envy feels alive

Chorusx2

Come back to me

Come back to me, I know I changed my mind

You say my blue eyes match my dress tonight

Come back to me, take this gypsy envy for a ride
