Formed in the ‘80s, the Red Hot Chili Peppers have been steadily cranking out hit after hit since the early ‘90s. With a massive catalog of music to choose from and a wide range of fast- and slow-paced songs, they make for a great addition to the Kids React To YouTube series.

In this episode, “Higher Ground,” “Under The Bridge,” “Breaking the Girl,” “Give it Away,” “Suck my Kiss,” “Californication,” “Scar Tissue,” “Dani California,” and “Goodbye Angels” were played for the listeners. Most of the kids were unfamiliar with the band overall, with the exception of one hip kid donned in a Zeppelin tee—he apparently saw RHCP in concert and clearly knew his stuff. This kid’s alright.

As for the rest of the kids, their reactions were mixed. Often, they couldn’t decipher anything Anthony Kiedis said, but they all took note of the way every song sounded different, describing the songs as everything from weird to peaceful to … country? We didn’t say it. They did.
