World's Worst iPod

It's back! Every Wednesday at 7:15, we play songs from the horrible iPod Kitty found while dumpster diving.

World's Worst iPod: Baltimora "Tarzan Boy"

If ever there was a song that screamed "'80s" this is it.

There was a whole lotta love expressed for "Tarzan Boy" by Baltimora, even though a lot of people just remembered it as the Oh-oh-oh song! Baltimora was a band from Italy, and this song was a worldwide hit, reaching number 13 on the charts in the United States in 1986.

It was also used in a Listerine commercial and in the movie "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III."

And if this song gets stuck in your head, we apologize with utmost sincerity. Or half-a**ed sincerity. One of those.

And here's that Listerine ad from 1993:

World's Worst iPod:Frank Mills "Music Box Dancer"

This instrumental was actually written in 1974, released to radio in in 1978, and then a year later it went all the way to #3 on the Billboard chart.

Frank Mills is a Canadian piano player who started taking lessons at age 3. He apparently practiced more than a lot of us did back in the day.

World's Worst iPod:After the Fire "Der Kommissar"

The English group After the Fire took "Der Kommissar" to #5 in 1983. Interestingly, there were not the original ones to record this song. It was co-written and recorded a couple years earlier by Falco (yeah, the "Rock Me Amadeus" guy). That version was entirely in German.
After the Fire made up some English lyrics and wa-la! A #5 hit and an MTV staple. If you watch the video, I believe you will detect the symbolism of the tarantula that shows up in several spots. Or not.

And here's the all-German version by Falco.
