It's back! Every Wednesday at 7:15, we play songs from the horrible iPod Kitty found while dumpster diving.

World's Worst iPod: Gunhill Road "Back When My Hair Was Short"

This song only made it up to #40 on the pop charts in 1973, but it's been seared into Kitty's brain ever since.

Alas, it was the best chart position ever attained by the trio called Gunhill Road.

It's one of the first examples of pop culture talking about hippie disillusionment. At least that we know of!

I'll never forget that tune!
I went to one of those summer camps where the tradition was to compose a song about your group and sing it to "battle" all the other groups. One song would win each summer. In 1973 my group's song, written to the tune of Back When My Hair Was Short did NOT win; however, I have never forgotten the words or that tune. This is even more endearing, perhaps, because it was an orthodox Jewish camp and the song lyrics were in Hebrew. My group, the Lions (Araiyot) will long remember this song; of that I am sure!

Suggestion for sappiest song ever
I Will Always Think of You by the New Colony Six. Or even their other hit Things I'd Like to Say. Only available through You Tube, which is probably a blessing. I replayed these 2 songs over and over in 8th grade. Truly cringe worthy.

Gotta love the '80s! Depending on who you're talking to, Kajagoogoo's "Too Shy" is either a song that defines the decade, in a good way, or it's a song that gives all other '80s songs a bad name. It made it to #5 on the charts in...

5 Things You Probably Didn't Know about Birthday Boy Neil Young
Happy 69th birthday to my favorite self-proclaimed "rich hippie," Neil Young. I remember when I was a kid, I hated Neil's voice. I didn't even particularly care for his songs CSNY albums, but the guy grew on me, and he's now one of my...

World's Worst iPod: Mac and Katie Kissoon "Chirpy Chirpy Cheep"
There was a lot of love this morning for a song that made it up to #20 in 1971 for the brother sister team of Mac and Katie Kissoon. The pair hailed from Trinidad and this was their only Top 40 hit.

World's Worst iPod: Robbie Nevil "C'est La Vie"
"That's just the way things go," croons Robbie Nevil in the soong "C'est La Vie." Despite the fact that the theme seemed to fit the way a lot of people feel today, there just wasn't enough to support playing it in its entirety. Released...
