World's Worst iPod

It's back! Every Wednesday at 7:15, we play songs from the horrible iPod Kitty found while dumpster diving.

World's Worst iPod: Carl Douglas "Everybody Was Kung Fu Fighting"

It's hard to believe a novelty song like this went all the way up the charts to number one---but it did, and actually stayed there for two weeks!

It seemed most everyone, excluding our meteorologist Brian Olson wanted to hear this song, which came out in 1974.

It was the only song Kitty's brother ever requested on the radio, which actually explains a lot about his personality!

Enjoy!

World's Worst iPod: Digital Underground "Humpty Dance"

Apparently everyone who was in middle school in 1990 was listening to our show this morning, because support was overwhelming for "Humpty Dance." The song with its wild and crazy rhymes and infectious beat went all the way to #11 on the charts that year.

We got a suggestion that Brian Olsen should do a sexy slow jam of the lyrics---and we think that's a great idea! Stay tuned!

World's Worst iPod: Albert Hammond "I'm a Train"

"I'm a train, I'm lyin' on a train, I'm a train I'm a chicka-train yeah! " Who could not love a song with lyrics like that?

This song went to #31 in 1974 for Albert Hammond (not to be confused with Albert Hammond, Jr, a member of the Strokes.)

He is the same guy who had a hit with "It Never Rains in Southern California," another World's Worst iPod classic!

While looking for this video on youtube, I found another song by Albert Hammond, which suggest a possible identity crisis. It's called "I'm A Camera." Sounds very 1980s to me, but isn't bad!

1. First Aid Kit - Stay Gold Folk vintage - yet modern. The sister duo, which I thought may edge into the slightly obnoxious, was captivating. Their high pitched harmonies that ring throughout every song, sell every second. There were some seriously...

The problem with holiday sweaters--and it's not that they're ugly
Holiday sweaters--oh we love to mock them! Ugly holiday sweater parties have become so mainstream that I feel they are no longer ironic. But that's not what I'm going to gripe about. My problem is that ugly holiday sweaters are now becoming...

1. U2- Songs of Innocence: One of my favorite English poets is, William Blake. Jim Morrison of the Doors was so inspired by Blake's poetry, he used one of Blake's lines, "the doors of perception," to name the Doors….the Doors! So, this U2 album,...

When the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame announced its 2015 inductees this morning, I was very happy to see one of the names on the list: Stevie Ray Vaughan. Even though the late Texas guitar slinger has been eligible to get in since 2008, this is the...
