Wizard of Oz--time for a re-do?

Since Alice in Wonderland's been bringing in so much money at the box office, Hollywood is thinking there's big money to be made by re-making the classic 1939 movie, The Wizard of Oz. And no..I'm not talking about the big screen version of the Broadway musical Wicked. Two studios, New Line and Warner Brothers, have Oz projects in the works. You can read about them here. I did some checking of my own, and came across some pre-production notes from one of the planned Wizard of Oz remakes. Here are some of the highlights. *Use a real lion for Cowardly Lion. Idea rejected on advice of attorneys Siegfried and Roy. *Flying Monkeys Casting: Get Peter Tork, Davy Jones,  Michael Nesmith and Mickey Dolenz.  Nesmith has already turned down the offer, the other 3 are in negotiations. *Tin Man revamping: dialog requesting "oil can" must be revised. Replace with renewable energy technology. Perhaps solar? *Possible product placement: Yellow Brick Road to be made of Cheez-its. Ruby Slippers available at Payless? *Post-cyclone setting: Dorothy wakes up in a FEMA trailer. Too political? *Scarecrow Casting: Hey it's a no-brainer. Somebody call George W. Bush.

They can NOT re-make the Wizard of Oz. Nobody can play Dorthy except you or me cuz we know all her lines. I would still probably go see it but I know I would be disappointed cuz there ain't nothing like the real thing baby. Sound like a Coke commercial eh? DBD

5 Things You Probably Didn't Know about Birthday Boy Neil Young
Happy 69th birthday to my favorite self-proclaimed "rich hippie," Neil Young. I remember when I was a kid, I hated Neil's voice. I didn't even particularly care for his songs CSNY albums, but the guy grew on me, and he's now one of my...

World's Worst iPod: Mac and Katie Kissoon "Chirpy Chirpy Cheep"
There was a lot of love this morning for a song that made it up to #20 in 1971 for the brother sister team of Mac and Katie Kissoon. The pair hailed from Trinidad and this was their only Top 40 hit.

"That's just the way things go," croons Robbie Nevil in the soong "C'est La Vie." Despite the fact that the theme seemed to fit the way a lot of people feel today, there just wasn't enough to support playing it in its entirety. Released...
