This probably happens to most people every once in a while when they're listening to music--they hear a lyric that makes them miss some one who's no longer in their life.
That's what happened to me the other day when I was listening to an Old 97's CD. The song was Big Brown Eyes, and it included the line "I'm calling time and temperature just for some company."
I know just how Rhett and Murry and the guys felt. I used to do the same thing. I just liked her lilting tone of voice. "Thank you for using AT&T. The time is____. The temperature is _____."
I felt she really got me. I was no longer alone when I had the time and temperature lady. And she provided such useful info! But now with the advent of cell phones and computers that can tell you that kind of stuff instantly, phone companies no longer provide that service.
I'd almost gotten over missing her until Sunday morning when I was setting my clocks for daylight saving time. And then the Old 97s had to re-open the wound. Sigh.
