Did you know the White House has a large collection of vinyl albums? If you thought about it, you'd probably expect it to include artists like Pat Boone the Carpenters and John Denver. And you would be right.
But the collection also includes albums like " Let it Bleed" , " Never Mind the Bullocks, Here's the Sex Pistols" Led Zeppelin IV, and even Captain Beefheart's " Trout Mask Replica".
Back in 1979, according to Rolling Stone Magazine, John Hammond was asked to update the library from the John Denvers to the Rolling Stones, and now the official White House library has over 2,000 albums.
With Barack Obama being the first "Blackberry" president, I wonder if he considers vinyl albums old-fashioned! I don't know what he has on his ipod ( I'm sure he has one, aren't you?), but he does love "Born to Run" and " Blood on the Tracks".
It's nice to know we have a leader who knows how to rock!
