What song did we just play? Here's the Triple M playlist

Kitty Dunn

What does Kitty have to say?

What will Kitty play at her college radio reunion?

How's that saying go, "you can't go back again?"

This weekend I'm going back to my old stomping grounds of Stevens Point for an on-air reunion at my college radio station, WWSP, at UW-Stevens Point.

I worked in the news department there back in the early '80s and was News Director for a year. I hate to admit it, but I really was a lot like Les Nessman from the TV show WKRP in Cinncinnatti. I took news VERY SERIOUSLY. I wanted no shenanigans. No reading the farm reports on the air, no matter how much fun it was to say "sow bellies are up."  I insisted that all the news personnel pre-read wire copy before reading it on the air. I even made a big sign and posted it in the newsroom saying so.

I've mellowed over the years. And when I go back to 90FM this weekend, I'm going to be doing a music shift, not news. Now this is something I only tried a couple times back in the day, to diasastrous results. I'm hoping things go better this time.

I've got a two-hours timeslot to fill with music, and that's presented a challenge. What should I play?  Should everything somehow relate back to Stevens Point?

Perhaps I should stick to only playing music that was in my personal album collection prior to 1983.

I'm not sure that's such a great idea. I had quite a few Beatles albums, which of course are timeless, but does any one want to listen to songs by Pablo Cruise, Toto, Loverboy, R.E.O.Speedwagon, Meat Loaf and Journey?

No, I don't think so. I'm pretty sure the Beatles will make the cut, but I'm confident some of my newer favorite songs will be played as well.

And maybe, just maybe, I'll throw in one R.E.O. song. But how do I choose just one?

You can listen to me on 90FM Sunday, August 4 from 11am-1pm via the "Tune-in Radio App" here.
