What albums are you thankful for?

vinylAs Thanksgiving approaches...the folks here at Triple M are wondering what albums you're thankful for...so I thought I'd check in with a list of some albums that have really meant a lot to me. 5 Random Albums That I'm Thankful For Beatles "Rock and Roll Music": This is the first Beatles album I owned. It was a compilation album that came out in the late 1970's, and radio stations were playing "Got to Get You Into My Life." I asked for that for Christmas, and my older brother Tim bought it for me, along with "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band," saying that I should be listening to the Beatles as they intended it. I've been a Beatle fan ever since..and probably would have never hooked up with my boyfriend Mike if we didn't have that in common. "Oliver! The Movie Soundtrack": It was the 3rd movie I ever went to go see in the theatre. We got the soundtrack album and my mom and I listened to it over and over. Just a sweet childhood memory. "Got to pick a pocket or two....boys...got to pick a pocket or two." Suzanne Vega "Solitude Standing": it was the mid-eighties before I ever bought an album by a female singer...this was the first. Love her voice and her songwriting. R.E.M. "Life's Rich Pageant." My younger brother John bought this for me when I requested Robert Palmer's "Riptide" for Christmas. Much better choice.  And R.E.M. became one of my favorite bands. Kasey Chambers "The Captain." An Australian singing country music? You bet. I love this album. What albums are you thankful for? World's Worst iPod: Kajagoogoo "Too Shy"
Gotta love the '80s! Depending on who you're talking to, Kajagoogoo's "Too Shy" is either a song that defines the decade, in a good way, or it's a song that gives all other '80s songs a bad name. It made it to #5 on the charts in...

5 Things You Probably Didn't Know about Birthday Boy Neil Young
Happy 69th birthday to my favorite self-proclaimed "rich hippie," Neil Young. I remember when I was a kid, I hated Neil's voice. I didn't even particularly care for his songs CSNY albums, but the guy grew on me, and he's now one of my...

World's Worst iPod: Mac and Katie Kissoon "Chirpy Chirpy Cheep"
There was a lot of love this morning for a song that made it up to #20 in 1971 for the brother sister team of Mac and Katie Kissoon. The pair hailed from Trinidad and this was their only Top 40 hit.

World's Worst iPod: Robbie Nevil "C'est La Vie"
"That's just the way things go," croons Robbie Nevil in the soong "C'est La Vie." Despite the fact that the theme seemed to fit the way a lot of people feel today, there just wasn't enough to support playing it in its entirety. Released...
