VOTE: who's next for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has announced its newest batch of nominees for the Rock Hall, and some omissions may annoy you.

I guess I'm going to have to wait a while longer for Gram Parsons, Cheap Trick, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Al Kooper to be nominated.

This year's nominees are The Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Chic, Deep Purple, Peter Gabriel, Hall & Oates, KISS, LL Cool J, The Meters, Nirvana, N.W.A, The Replacements, Linda Ronstadt, Link Wray, and The Zombies.

Not all of those artists will make it in this time around, and the Rock Hall says the list of inductees will be announced "in the coming weeks." They say they usually induct five to seven artists per year.

The purpose of the Rock Hall is to recognize the contributions of those who have had a significant impact on the evolution, development and perpetuation of rock and roll.

With that in mind, I'm sure Nirvana will be picked for induction on their first year of eligibility.  Peter Gabriel also seems like an obvious choice. Personally, I'm rooting for the Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Linda Ronstadt, and the Zombies.

I saw what's left of the Zombies at Summerfest this year and they were amazing! Unfortunately that doesn't exactly come through in the fuzzy photograph I took. (The British invasion band is known for their hits including "She's Not There," "Tell Her No," and "Time of the Season.")

There is a fan element to the selection process this year. You can vote here.
