Things I've learned from seeing U2 live

u2photoThe only U2 concert I've attended was in the summer of 1992. It was the Zooropa tour, and the show was sold out. While being thoroughly entertained, I did gain some insight from the experience. Here are a few of the things I learned. 1. It used to be really fun to go to a ticket outlet to buy tickets. I lined up at Rose Records, which used to located in the Market Square shopping center on Odana Road. To avoid having people line up super-early, they handed out numbers..and even though I got a pretty good number for that location, my tickets weren't the best. 2. Bono and the boys look really small from the top row at Camp Randall. I mean really really small. But it is nice to have a back rest. 3. When you call the White House, you get a real person to talk to. This was the year Bill Clinton was running against the first George Bush, so every night Bono would call the White House and ask to talk to the president, and they'd play the call over the loudspeakers. When the tour came to Washington, D.C., they gave the White House phone operators free tickets. 4.  It's worth it to pay the hefty price for a concert T-shirt. I bought one from a bootlegger outside the stadium and it kind of fell apart and got all stretched out after one trip through the washer and dryer. It became my new U2 nightgown.

I'm very grateful to everyone who helped me move on. It's sad and surprising to see Sam Lyons go. My wife was even voting for him.

World's Worst iPod: Tiffany "I Think We're Alone Now"
A lot of people have fond memories of that little red-haired mallrat from the 1980s, Tiffany. And they wanted nothing more this morning than to hear her hit "I Think We're Alone Now." Now the only good thing about Tiffany having a hit with this...

Rejected Earth Day celebration ideas*
Like me, you probably try to be Earth friendly every day, but since it is Earth Day, you want to do a little something extra. Here are some ideas I considered, but for some reason decided against. 1. Hold a seance on Gaylord Nelson's grave. The...

Tonight’s song
Dear Superstars, The hours grow closer and closer as I wait to see which one of us is going home tonight. For last week's performance I gave my all to "Drive-By Heartache" and I hope that the judges heard the lyrics and the melodies. For me a song...

Most expensive dishes from around the world. ~Stevi
I never thought I would see the day where chocolate pudding showed up on a list of most expensive dishes. I feel like someone should contact Bill Cosby about this. More outrageiously priced food here; be ready to pick your jaw off the floor. ~Stevi
My Love For Caffeine
I had so much fun with last weeks challenge and performance. The first elimination was really nerve racking and losing Carrel was a big bummer. I am so glad she still played her song because it was BEAUTIFUL. This week, the challenge is...
