The real reason the Vikings lost

favreloseSo the Vikings choke again. Not a real surprise, but definitely a bummer for folks who still haven't jumped off the Brett Favre train. There are those who say bad calls killed the Vikings. Or it could have been that Favre threw an interception late in the game (you think?) But here's the real reason the Vikings lost.  It was their bad choice of "inspirational guest speaker" before the game. Because Brett became such a pop culture sensation when he sang "Pants on the Ground" after the Vikings beat Dallas, they brought in the bizarre dude who "sang" it on American Idol during the auditions a couple weeks ago. His name is General Larry Platt, and it's obvious the players were into it...and that they have the sense of humor of five year olds. They couldn't think of any one else to bring in? Like maybe Dr. Phil..or Conan? He gave a very nice speech on his finale show Friday night and could have shared some wisdom. Or maybe they should have invited another American Idol wannabe who's gotten more than his 15 minutes of fame. William Hung could have sung "She Bang" and whipped them into a frenzy. Here's the video of Mr. Platt entertaining the boys. I think it's on a cell phone camera so the quality's not that good.

Kitty, I think the inspirational speaker they had saved for the Super Bowl should have been moved up for the championship. Fran Tarkington could have gotten a choke-hold on Brent so he could follow in his foot steps at the big game. Feel REAL BAD he gotbeat up so much (sniff). Prediction: Will he retire? Tearfully, yes! Will he then come back? No, not right away. Mommy's Going to make him stay home. He's grounded! J

World's Worst iPod: Kajagoogoo "Too Shy"
Gotta love the '80s! Depending on who you're talking to, Kajagoogoo's "Too Shy" is either a song that defines the decade, in a good way, or it's a song that gives all other '80s songs a bad name. It made it to #5 on the charts in...

5 Things You Probably Didn't Know about Birthday Boy Neil Young
Happy 69th birthday to my favorite self-proclaimed "rich hippie," Neil Young. I remember when I was a kid, I hated Neil's voice. I didn't even particularly care for his songs CSNY albums, but the guy grew on me, and he's now one of my...

World's Worst iPod: Mac and Katie Kissoon "Chirpy Chirpy Cheep"
There was a lot of love this morning for a song that made it up to #20 in 1971 for the brother sister team of Mac and Katie Kissoon. The pair hailed from Trinidad and this was their only Top 40 hit.

World's Worst iPod: Robbie Nevil "C'est La Vie"
"That's just the way things go," croons Robbie Nevil in the soong "C'est La Vie." Despite the fact that the theme seemed to fit the way a lot of people feel today, there just wasn't enough to support playing it in its entirety. Released...
