When I first saw the trailer for this movie I couldn't wait for it to come out. It seemed like I had to wait and wait and wait for its release. It finally came out and as I was watching it I felt like I had to wait and wait for the story to unfold.
I'm a huge fan of Jamie Foxx and Robert Downey Jr. but unfortunately this story dragged on and on. I understand that this is a true story and it may take more than 90 minutes to tell it, but they should have tried.
It is a fascinating story of a cellist who was accepted to the Juilliard Music school, but had to drop out because of a battle with schizhophernia. The musician played brilliantly by Jamie Foxx is name Nathaniel Ayers. Robert Downey Jr. plays a Los Angeles Times columnist named Steve Lopez who discovers Ayers living on the street.
The relationship between the two is complicated and we discover more and more about the challenges both these men face in their lives. Since it is a true story, there is not a neat and simple ending. I'm fine with that, but they could have gotten there a whole lot sooner.
