The Pope on Your PC

Pope Benedict isn't about to be bested by Barack Obama. He's launched his own Youtube channel. Which I think presents a lot of interesting possibilities. Apparently it's all part of the Pope's efforts to control his "digital image." In his first Youtube message, he welcomed all of us to join the "dialog of truth." Now no matter how you feel about the Catholic church or the Pope, you have to see the comic side to this. Will the church be trying to get new parishioners on its own version of Facebook? (It would be called Faithbook, of course.) Perhaps a whole line of video games is in order. My first idea was a Papal Pac-man, where instead of dots and fruit, the object is to gobble up the Holy Eucharist. But perhaps that's in poor taste. And how long will it be before the confession booth is replaced with text messaging? Mine would be something like this.  I cvtd my nbr's snblwer.  And the priest would text back: 2 HM 1OF. (Two Hail Mary's and one Our Father). I just don't know if guilt resonates as well in cyberspace.

World's Worst iPod:Escape Club "Wild Wild West"
Remember when we were headed for the 90s..and grooving to the Escape Club? This band from London scored a number 1 hit in 1988 with the song "Wild Wild West." It's probably the only song you remember from that band--but they weren't a...

With Father's Day coming up, we thought we'd choose one of the greatest dad songs of all time.  But since that song wasn't on the iPod, we decided to go with "Daddy Don't You Walk So Fast" by Wayne Newton. This song made...

Today was another busy day at Bonnaroo. We started the day off by seeing Shakey Graves. I missed his show in Madison earlier this year so he was a must see on my list. Loved him! Right as he ended, a press conference with Ed Helms, Abigail...

Day 2: Friday - Variety, the Spice of Life
Day 2 is upon us! Despite being up fairly late and not sleeping super well (first time camping...I'll get used to it I'm sure), I was hoping to sleep in just a little bit, but my body had other plans. It woke me up at 5:45am for the hell of it. I...

World's Worst iPod: Engelbert Humperdinck "After the Lovin'"
One of the great things about radio in the 60s and 70s is the variety of music that made it onto the radio.  A rock song by Led Zeppelin could be followed up by Paul Anka or Andy Williams. A polka could make it to top 40 right alongside a disco song...

5 Things You Probably Didn't Know About Breese Stevens Field
With the big concert with the Avett Brothers and Brett Dennen coming up at Breese Stevens Field in October, I did a little digging to find out more about the facility that was just put on the National Register of Historic Places last year. 1. I always...
