Pope Benedict isn't about to be bested by Barack Obama. He's launched his own Youtube channel. Which I think presents a lot of interesting possibilities.
Apparently it's all part of the Pope's efforts to control his "digital image." In his first Youtube message, he welcomed all of us to join the "dialog of truth."
Now no matter how you feel about the Catholic church or the Pope, you have to see the comic side to this.
Will the church be trying to get new parishioners on its own version of Facebook? (It would be called Faithbook, of course.)
Perhaps a whole line of video games is in order. My first idea was a Papal Pac-man, where instead of dots and fruit, the object is to gobble up the Holy Eucharist. But perhaps that's in poor taste.
And how long will it be before the confession booth is replaced with text messaging?

And the priest would text back: 2 HM 1OF. (Two Hail Mary's and one Our Father).
I just don't know if guilt resonates as well in cyberspace.
