The Jayhawks, who's most recent album Mockingbird Time was released in September, will be making their way to Madison later this week. The Minneapolis natives began making music in 1985 with the original members Mark Olson, Gary Louris, Marc Perlman, and Norm Rogers. In 1992, after multiple line-up changes, The Jayhawks released their first major label album Hollywood Town Hall. The album reached #11 on Billboard's Heat Seakers chart, powered by the single "Waiting for the Sun", which rose to #20 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock chart. The band continued to tour and record while adding and losing members, until 2005 when they went on hiatus. The Jayhawks' members continued to make music with various side and solo projects and in 2008, reunited for a concert in Spain. This eventually led to a report in 2009 that they had decided to reunite. In 2010, they entered the recording studio and finally in September 2011, the long awaited Mockingbird Time was released.
The Jayhawks will be bringing their alt-country rock styling to the Barrymore Theater this Thursday, Feb. 16. Line-up will include original members Mark Olson, Marc Perlman, and Gary Louris as well as Karen Grotberg and Tim O'Reagan. Tickets are $32 in advance and the show begins at 7:30pm. Special guest Kaiser Cartel will also be performing.

One small detail I like about Bonnaroo ... the security people's shirts say "Safety" and "Here to help". They seem well-trained and they do the things security folk do ... but I like the emphasis on safety and that they're doing these things...
