It's just not fair. I was too young to get in on the frenzy of Beatlemania. And now that a new musical pandemonium is taking the nation...or at least Wisconsin...by storm... alas I am too old.
I checked my temperature the other day for two things: the H1N1 virus, and Danny Gokey fever.
I have neither.
In case you haven't been paying attention, Danny Gokey is the Milwaukee singing sensation who has made the Top 3 on American Idol this time around. Tonight, we get to see him perform two more songs, and (hopefully) get to see some footage from his Homecoming Visit to Milwaukee last week.
If I had been about 20 years younger (okay, 30 years younger), I would have been one of the frenetic fans following him around. He got to stop in at radio and TV stations, sing the National Anthem and throw out the first pitch at a Brewers' game, and peform a mini-concert at Summerfest. With Packers QB Aaron Rodgers! OMG!
At the risk that Gokeymania may be contagious, I zipped around Youtube looking for some good footage from his Milwaukee trip. Not only did I find lots of amateur video of his National Anthem peformance, I found some others that demonstrate the silliness that's surrounding this whole thing. Check out this video. I didn't watch the whole thing..the beginning was enough to frighten me immensely!
