Terry Jacks: Seasons in the Sun
by World's Worst iPod,posted Nov 9 2012 10:10AM
Terry Jacks took "Seasons in the Sun" all the way to #1 in 1974, and while it's a depressing death song, it seems just about everybody loves it.
It was on the radio constantly that year, and it appears the alternate version was popular among kids all over. Kitty was excited when a guy who grew up in Fond du Lac called and said he also would sing it this way: "We had joy we had fun, we had seasons in the sun, but the cops had the guns, so they shot us in the buns." That version was also all the rage in Stevens Point.
Sorry, this video appears to be the K-Tel version, as it leaves out the entire middle verse that starts out "Good-bye Papa, please pray for me, I was the black sheep of the family..." but that's okay, right? We all know it by heart.

Who else still misses George?

"Hotline, hotline, calling on the hotline for your love!" The hook is so contagious you will probably be hearing it in your head all day.
Sorry about that.
"Hotline" was a number 5 single for the family band the Sylvers in early 1977. (Yes, Sylver...
There was not a lot of love today for the song "Cherish" by Kool & The Gang. It was a huge hit for the band in 1985--getting all the way up to #2 on the pop charts.
This song is not to be confused with "Cherish," a song which was a big hit for the...
Copuntry singer-songwriter Donna Fargo had two big crossover pop hits. One was "The Happiest Girl in the Whole U.S.A., and the other was the one we featured from the World's Worst iPod. "Funny Face" made it to number 5 on the pop chart..which means a...
The Grammys always have their share of awkward moments and unusual pairings. But this one from the early 1970s is so awkward, it's amazing.
It's obvious John can't really believe he's being forced to read such cheesy lines!
