What does Kitty have to say?

Springsteen at the Super Bowl

Do you have what it takes to be one of the enthusiastic adoring fans surrounding Bruce Springsteen during his halftime appearance at the Super Bowl? I certainly don't. A couple of weeks ago I was bumping around on Springsteen's web site, when I found out what you had to do to get to be in the audience on the field at halftime. Here are some of them: -Be at least 16 years of age and have an understanding of staging and blocking. (I thought blocking was something the linebackers did..what does that have to do with Springsteen?) -Be of sound physical health and capable of vigorous physical activity without assistance, including the ability to run onto and off the field as directed, without stopping. (Okay, I'm definitely out now.) You also might be interested to know that the fans that are out there at halftime for the Springsteen set don't even get tickets to the game!  Bruce's website suggested, "have your friends or parents record the Halftime Show so you can watch later." The participants were all required to attend rehearsals, and it was suggested they bring their own snacks as "there will never be time to leave the rehearsal location." It also said they would not be close to any restaurants or stores. (Perhaps the rehearsals were held somewhere in the uncharted Everglades?) There was also a reminder to not bring too much stuff with you to the game or rehearsals..because the NFL, halftime show producer, and the stadium would not be responsible for lost or stolen items. I notice Bruce was not relieved of any liability. I'm thinkin' if some one walks off with that "Born to Run" cassette from your car, he'll replace it. He just seems like that kind of guy.
