It’s been a long season for the Milwaukee Brewers and most of you are thrilled the Green Bay Packers played a preseason game last night. I’m a Chicago Bears fan and they also had a preseason game last night.
I am not excited.
It’s not because I live in Packer nation and fear the Green and Gold will go 16 and 0 this season and as a Bears fan on foreign soil I will be ridiculed for the next few months.
It’s simply because this is yet another sign summer is winding down. Yes, it’s been a LONG HOT summer and I know fall in Wisconsin is delightful. However, the start of football even if its just preseason makes me ask a few questions every year.
Did I go swimming enough?
Did I ride my bike enough?
Did I go to the farmer’s market as many times as I wanted to?
Did I picnic enough?
Did I sit with my wife outside and watch the sunset?
Did I wait in line with a bunch of kids for a cool treat from the ice cream truck?
Did I run through at least one person’s sprinkler?
Did I ride in someone’s convertible?
There’s still time, but the sounds of helmets crashing reminds me there’s not as much time as I thought.
