So Much To Say!!!

I have so much to say, I hardly know where to start!! Since my last blog I left you with this. We went to see The Knux. I'm sure you haven't heard of them yet, but just you wait...they are great! Two brothers from New Orleans currently living in Las Vegas. Got their first record deal in, I believe, 2008 and they are INCREDIBLE!!  Like I said, you don't need to know the words to jam to their tunes. After the show  I hooked up with them and basically praised their work, which they were grateful for. They said that they try so hard...they go from festival to festival and just feel like they're giving their all but not feelin' the love (my words, not theirs..but you get the jist). This was a great introduction to the world of "meeting the artists". This is all so new to me, I have to confess I'm a little nervous. Today we woke up after a LONG night of sleeping completely drenched head to toe. It poured and poured last night. Again, tornado watch/warnings. Ugh. But, we made it through and decided to exchange our small tent with our big honkin' tent. Thank god our neighbors didn't mind. FYI - we have the BEST neighbors!! They made us breakfast and everything! Okay, I've gotten sidetracked. So after drying out and heading out we hit a press conference starring Bon Iver and Lucinda Williams. It was incredible! They're a bunch of comedians. After the guy that runs the show ran through his questions we all had a chance to hang. Again, I actually got the guts up to talk with Justin Vernon (Bon Iver). What a great guy. Very sweet and soft spoken. I gave him the run down of how I know people that know him and I lived in Eau Claire, etc, etc. How I was so appreciative to have been introduced to his music. It was very nice to meet him. However, I have a couple of comments. After I started to talk with him another chick came up to him (I apologize, but I don't recall who she was) but he was totally hitting on her. He brushed me off to proceed to get her email and phone number. I tell you what. I was holding my ground. I was there to talk to him and that's what I was going to do. So, I waited patiently for them to complete their phone number exchange and completed my conversation. It's okay...maybe if I were famous it would've turned out differently. haha... And that brings me to current. We are preparing to see Beastie Boys and Phish tonight. Before that I think we'll hit a little silent disco. At this point, anything to get out of the sun is perfect!! It hot and humid here!! We ain't in Wisconsin anymore, my friends. Thanks for following! Talk with ya'll tomorrow (that's how they say it in Tennessee). Trish DeFever

World's Worst iPod: Martika "Toy Soldiers"
For some reason, the song "Toy Soldiers" by Martika just made Jonathan & Kitty feel really, really old. The song was #1 for two weeks in 1989 for Martika, who started out in show business as a child actor. She had an uncredited role as an orphan in...

A new Bob Dylan video takes a violent turn. The video for the song "The Night We Called it a Day" from his Sinatra cover album "Shadows in the Night" gets a little bloody. But luckily it's in black and white so it seems somehow more...

5 Things You Probably Didn't Know about George Harrison
Who else still misses George?  George Harrison was born on today's date in 1943, and was only 58 when he died in 2001. I was interviewed by Channel 3 after he died, and I said it was truly sad for me, because I grew up with the Beatles and...

There was not a lot of love today for the song "Cherish" by Kool & The Gang. It was a huge hit for the band in 1985--getting all the way up to #2 on the pop charts. This song is not to be confused with "Cherish," a song which...
