Rock Hall Nominees

halloffame Hear the audio from Jonathan & Kitty in the Morning, 9.23.09 Is it finally the Hollies turn? The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has just released its list of nominees for induction next year. Five of these artists will make the cut: first time nominees Kiss, L Cool J, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Genesis, Jimmy Cliff, the Hollies, songwriter Laura Nyro, as well as Donna Summer, Darlene Love, ABBA, the Chantels, and the Stooges, who've been nominated before but didn't make the cut. I really irritated a listener this morning when I said Kiss didn't deserve to be in the Rock Hall..so I'll let that go for now and talk about a band that deserves to be in, more than any one else on that list. And that's the Hollies. Yeah..the band that Graham Nash was in before CSN. They had tons of hits, like On a Carousel, Bus Stop, Look Through Any Window..and later period hits like Long Cool Woman in A Black Dress, He Aint Heavy (He's My Brother), and Air that I Breathe. You can't just ignore a band that was such a big part of the British Invasion! I can't believe they weren't inducted years ago. I found this video that shows the lengths bands will go to, in order to get some publicity. The cheese factor on this is very high. Bonus cheese for the fact that Frankie Avalon introduces the band. I think the Hollies should get into the Rock Hall just for enduring this!
