The Wizard of Oz is my favorite movie. I can imitate the Wicked Witch, Dorothy, and Glinda, and can quote dialog from memory. You should see my sister-in-law Donna and me when we really get going!
So it's only natural that I'd be excited about the reissue of the movie in Blu-ray. It comes out tomorrow in a couple of different formats..remastered DVD, Blu-ray, and the Ultimate Collectors Edition which includes the Blu-ray and a whole bunch of other stuff, including a coffee table book, and a collectible 70th anniversary watch.
As I leafed through the flyers in the paper yesterday, I noticed that Target was offering an exclusive Blu-ray (without all the bells and whistles) for around 34 bucks, but Best Buy had a collectors box in the $50 range.
I'm a little muddled about which of the versions I'm going to buy (do I need the Wizard of Oz watch?), but must admit I've got a pretty bad case of Oz fever right now.
Can't wait 'til tomorrow? Check out this video preview!
OMG, I can't believe you mentioned me in your blog but you didn't tell anyone that I am better than you are at the dialog (just kidding, we are both really good at that). Remember how we would get going and your brother wanted to knock our head together to make us stop, we did tend to go on and on. We don't have a blue ray yet but will get one evenutally once the price goes down a little and Tim belongs to a couple of movie clubs so we can get movies for a lot cheaper than buying them at a store. I would like the coffe table book, that would just be cool and since I have so much of the movie memoribilia around the house, that would just make everything right. I just had to tell you that you made my day, thanks! DBD
The Broadway musical Wicked has flown back into town, thrilling fans at the Overture Center now through June 9th.
I got a chance to see the production for the 2nd time last night, and once again was blown away. Even though I saw Wicked in 2010, I had...
Today we traveled back to 1975 for a Rendezvous with The Hudson Brothers. This song didn't make it to high on the charts, but Kitty enjoyed it. Her favorite brother was Brett. She also loved their television show. We've included a skit from...
I'm not sure why Pete Yorn decided to name his new music project after a European cave dwelling aquatic salamander, but if he stops by to play us some songs in Studio M, we'll have to ask him.
The Olms is a collaboration between Pete Yorn and...
Today's song was written by Peter Yarrow of Peter, Paul and Mary. It was inspired by the 1957 novel Doctor Zhivago. No one was inspired by the song this morning. It was rejected by almost all the listeners.
Today is World Goth Day, a day to celebrate the post-punk, anti-establishment, dark clothes-wearing subculture.
I'm pretty sure I was a Goth for at least for little while, for two reasons.
1) I almost hardly ever wear pastels.
2) I used to...

This morning it seemed like just about everyone was in the mood for some Funky Cold Medina...except Kitty. This ridiculous song made it all the way to number 3 in 1989. Jonathan says any song that references advertising dogs from the 80's has got...
