This is the week that foodies in southern Wisconsin wait for...with their mouths watering.
Madison Restaurant Week is here, with participating restaurants offering fixed price three course meals, starting at $25 for dinner and $15 for lunch.
I met my friend Karen at Bonfyre American Grill to try their Restaurant Week special for lunch. We both started off with the house salad with vinaigrette, and it was as tasty as it was gorgeous to look at!
There were two main courses to choose from. I went with the pan-fried walleye, which was served with roasted rosemary potatoes and a seasonal vegetable, which was roasted zucchini and yellow squash. It often seems that when you eat out at a fancy place, the portions are small, but that was not the case here. I was stuffed..and dessert was on the way!
My friend Karen ordered the woodfyred chicken...which was cooked super-slow on Bonfyre's rotisserie. I tried a bite and it was tender, succulent, and flavorful. Karen said everything was delicious.
The meal was topped off with Bonfyre's mini-desserts. Our server brought out a choice of small desserts in oversized shot glasses, ranging from key lime pie to peanut butter cup. I went with the peanut butter chocolate choice, while Karen had a raspberry cheese cake style dessert which she raved about.
