If you watched Saturday Night Live this past weekend, you saw an awesomely talented woman named Regina Spektor.
She has a very interesting background; born in Russia to a musical Jewish family. Her father was an amateur violinist and her mother was a professor at a Russian college of music. So she starts playing piano at a very young age and gets exposed to her fathers Beatles, Queen and Moody Blues albums.
When she was 9, her family emigrated to NYC. While on a trip to Israel, Regina started writing songs, and says she must have composed about 700 songs, most of which she did not write down.
She gets involved in the anti-folk movement in Greenwich Village and sells her self-produced CD's at the shows.... and gets her big break in 2006 with " Being To Hope" was released, and her song Fidelity gets her a LOT of attention, TV appearances and even a mention in the comic strip Get Fuzzy.
Now Regina is out with a new album, Far, and blew minds on Saturday Night Live with the song " Eet". Enjoy the official video for this song.
