Reducing Impact of the Super Bowl

The New York Giants may have been the official winners of Super Bowl XLVI, but it was a victory of Mother Nature as well. This year, the NFL along with the Indianapolis Super Bowl XLVI host committee worked to reduce the environmental impact more than ever.

15,000 megawatt hours of renewable energy certificates were supplied to offset greenhouse gas emmissions.

1,700 trees were donated to be planted throughout urban Indianapolis.

PepsiCo established a recycling initiative to set up bins throughout the event location.

Tens of thousands of pounds of food were to be collected by charity organization Second Helpings.

While the Super Bowl may have a long way to go before being truly environmentally friendly, every little step is benefitial. We can only hope this trend continues through Super Bowls to come.

Who wants to try watermelon Oreos?
Apparently Oreo flavored Oreos are not sufficient. Nabisco is continuing its trend of introducing special limited edition flavors for its Oreo cookies. Last year, the internet was all abuzz about candy corn Oreos, which supposedly didn't really...

Nuff said.
Here To Help
One small detail I like about Bonnaroo ... the security people's shirts say "Safety" and "Here to help". They seem well-trained and they do the things security folk do ... but I like the emphasis on safety and that they're doing these things...
