I just read that Mary Travers of Peter Paul and Mary died. I can hardy remember a time where that amazing trio's music was not a part of my life.
The first concert I ever saw was Peter Paul and Mary in 1963. My family was on vacation in Washington DC and PP&M were performing in the nightcub. My sister and I were much too young to go into the club, but they let us stand in the doorway for a few songs. Their voices were magical and I will always have the image of Mary Travers, long straight blonde hair flowing as she threw her head back to sing.
