There’s a lawyer in Maryland who has come up with an amazing invention. It’s called the Sensory Shield. It was created Lisa Daly who has autism and Sensory Processing Disorder. Daly prefers a little extra space while riding public transportation so she created a mini-shield. She can put it between herself and another rider on a bus or subway car.
I want one, but not just for public transportation. How amazing would it be to have one of these things all the time?
In the office: A co-worker is babbling on about how great he was on the golf course last weekend? Just put up the Sensory Shield. During a meeting, the boss is looking for a volunteer to work on Saturday? The Sensory Shield helps you avoid eye contact.
Social situations: You’re out with a group of friends at the conversation turns political. One of your “friends” tells you he believes everything Paul Ryan said in his speech at the Republican National Convention. Activate Sensory Shield! It can also make lunch or dinner more appetizing. We all have those friends who chew with an open mouth. It’s not a problem anymore with the Sensory Shield!
Soon we can all have Sensory Shields and not have to deal with our co-workers and friends face to face. Oh wait a minute. It already exists. It’s called Facebook.
