Wow wow wow! That’s my review of Phish at Alpine valley on Saturday night.
This marked my 16th year of going to Phish concerts and if I say this was one of THE BEST I’m not exaggerating.
First step to enjoying Alpine was the VIP parking pass I purchased for $30, which is the only way to handle that parking lot hassle at the end. I was pretty excited to bring my friend Scott along with us for his first Phish concert. I head to Will Call and we started walking down to our sets… and down… and down until we are on the freakin’ floor, maybe ten rows from the stage, way over on the side.
I’m stoked and ready to see “my boys”. The show started off with Tube ,which happens to be the very first song I ever saw Phish perform live back in 1994. It started strong and they never let up that first set. I don‘t think I have ever heard the band sound so tight. I guess growing up and getting sober is a good thing.
A high point for me was Page taking center stage and singing his jazzy “Lawn Boy” and “Sparkle” which took us to heights of rock ecstasy.
Now, I’m not getting any younger and I’m not in the best physical shape and it was hot, but I danced and boogied more than I have in, well since the last Phish concert!
Second set included some of my favorite songs, “Down with Disease”, “Weekapaug Groove” and their cool cover of “ Sneakin’ Sally Through the Alley”.
We were close enough to be bathed by the lights of the stage, which was cool and finally, I was in the middle of the glow stick “war”. I was lucky enough to catch this lovely necklace.
An encore while short and only one song, “Quinn the Eskimo”, was a prefect end to this totally rocking show.
Then, of course, we had to get out of the parking lot. VIP only took 30 minutes rather than 90, so all in all and perfect evening.
I can’t wait for next summer.
The Broadway musical Wicked has flown back into town, thrilling fans at the Overture Center now through June 9th.
I got a chance to see the production for the 2nd time last night, and once again was blown away. Even though I saw Wicked in 2010, I had...
Today we traveled back to 1975 for a Rendezvous with The Hudson Brothers. This song didn't make it to high on the charts, but Kitty enjoyed it. Her favorite brother was Brett. She also loved their television show. We've included a skit from...
I'm not sure why Pete Yorn decided to name his new music project after a European cave dwelling aquatic salamander, but if he stops by to play us some songs in Studio M, we'll have to ask him.
The Olms is a collaboration between Pete Yorn and...
Today's song was written by Peter Yarrow of Peter, Paul and Mary. It was inspired by the 1957 novel Doctor Zhivago. No one was inspired by the song this morning. It was rejected by almost all the listeners.
Today is World Goth Day, a day to celebrate the post-punk, anti-establishment, dark clothes-wearing subculture.
I'm pretty sure I was a Goth for at least for little while, for two reasons.
1) I almost hardly ever wear pastels.
2) I used to...
Hello to all from Nfusion. Another round of challenges has moved beyond us all. Congrats to those of us lucky enough to have survived to this point. Sad to see the others eliminated as they were all very creative and talented. Good Bye to our new friends...
This morning it seemed like just about everyone was in the mood for some Funky Cold Medina...except Kitty. This ridiculous song made it all the way to number 3 in 1989. Jonathan says any song that references advertising dogs from the 80's has got...
