Paul McCartney announced today he will release an album of covers February 7th that will include two new songs My Valentine and Only Our Hearts. The upcoming album will feature "the songs me and John based quite a few of our things on" according to McCartney.
The untitled release boasts appearances from Stevie Wonder and longtime friend Eric Clapton. For the first time in his career McCartney laid down the vocals without bass, piano, or guitar accompaniment. McCartney says, "It was very spontaneous, kind of organic, which then reminded me of the way we'd work with The Beatles."
McCartney is currently in the middle of his 11 date On The Run tour. He's scheduled to open the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London and might pop up at Queen Elizabeth's 85th birthday party in April.
