Origins of One EskimO's Kandi

The indie band One EskimO's ( yes, capital O) song Kandi is a very cool song, but it's origin is even cooler. First we had Country/ Western star Patsy Cline and her song " He Called Me Baby", recorded just a few weeks before she died in a plane crash. Here's her song: Several years later, 60's soul singer Candi Staton took Patsy's song and gave it her own spin. Which brings us to One EskimO, who sample's Candi, pays tribute to her and names their song Kandi.

Very nice discovery, Gabs! Cool to have Patsy Cline up there, too.... (Never "got" the Candi Staton version, though.)

Kitty used to be a Goth--almost
Today is World Goth Day, a day to celebrate the post-punk, anti-establishment, dark clothes-wearing subculture. I'm pretty sure I was a Goth for at least for little while, for two reasons. 1) I almost hardly ever wear pastels. 2) I used to...
