Obama rally: to go or not to go

President Obama is coming to Madison next week...for a big political pep rally designed to help out Democrats in advance of the November 2nd election. I'm sure Russ Feingold, Tammy Baldwin and Tom Barrett will all be there too. And if that's not enough excitement for you, Ben Harper will also be there to play a few tunes. I used to get so psyched for stuff like this...but I just don't know if I'll go this time around. Maybe it's the parking hassles, maybe it's political burnout...I'm not sure. This attitude would be pretty pitiful to my late father..who was a local Democratic rabble-rouser up in Stevens Point. What's wrong with me? If you're going..I do have the info you'll need. They'll start letting you into the Library Mall area Tuesday at 3:30pm, and the program is supposed to start at 4:45. No tickets are required, but the Obama folks would like you to RSVP. Click here to make your intentions known. And the university released more specifics about road closures, impact on classes, and what you can and can't take into the area. Read that here. And here's Ben Harper. I bet you a million bucks* he will do this song at the rally. *A bet is not a bet unless we shake on it. Just so you know.

Kitty! You need to shake out of your non-election season malaise and get excited about this rally - it's going to be great. If loving Obama doesn't inspire you to go, maybe hating Scott Walker could? They have to do something to counter the GIANT yard signs he's plastering around town. Also, I can't match your million dollar wager, but how about we make it a pair of tickets to see Michael Franti and Spearhead at Overture next month? ;)

I am disappointed in your near slip up of a racial stereotype while discussing President Obama's musical ability on the radio this morning. RACIAL JOKES are NEVER FUNNY. And if you apologized, I didn't hear it. You lost a long time listener this morning.

The next Jonny Lang? Quinn Sullivan is the real deal
I was up in Wausau for the Big Bull Falls Blues Fest, and had a great time watching all the great live music. The big surprise of the day was the guy who played at 3pm. He's just 15 years old and is a good friend of Buddy Guy, and even got to play...

World's Worst iPod: Young MC "Bust a Move"
Kitty apppeared to be all alone on her dislike of this song, which made it to #7 on the charts in 1989. Rolling Stone described the song this way: "a G-rated funk-bomb integral to hip-hop's eventual mainstream acceptance." The G-rating probably...

World's Worst iPod: Hall & Oates "Method of Modern Love"
Hall & Oates had a lot of great hits in the 1970s and 1980s, and if you believe a lot of folks, this is NOT one of them! This song with its amazing spelling lesson hook made it all the way to #5 on the charts in February of 1985. We're a...
