Neil Gets Psychedelic

Neil Young fans are getting a lot to love (and buy) in 2012.

Earlier this year, he released an album of unusual covers on Americana. His memoir Waging Heavy Peace came out on September 25th, and on October 30th the double album Psychedelic Pill will hit stores.

Neil also joined Twitter yesterday (@neilyoung) and almost immediately had more than 20,000 followers. He's only following one person, filmmaker Judd Apatow, who's freaking out about that big time.

Waging Heavy Peace features Crazy Horse, and it looks like it's going to be a doozy. The 2 CD (or 3LP) set only has four songs per disc (and one bonus track.) One song is a whopping 27 minutes long. Yes, that's a lot of Neil.

Here's the tracklist:
Disc One:
1) Driftin' Back (27:36)
2) Psychedelic Pill (3:26)
3) Ramada Inn (16:49)
4) Born in Ontario (3:49)

Disc Two:
1) Twisted Road (3:28)

2) She's Always Dancing (8:33)

3) For the Love of Man (4:13)
4) Walk Like a Giant (16:27)
Bonus Track:
5) Psychedelic Pill (Alternate Mix)

Neil is giving us a preview of the album with the release of the official video for "Walk Like A Giant."   Yes, it includes some of the classic Neil guitar sound, but it also features some doo-woppy background vocals, and whistling.
The video is a little shorter than the song on the album, which clocks in at 16 minutes plus.

Hey everybody, we were thrown for a loop by the twist this week, but were able to make one of our "oldie but a goldie" songs fit the mold. We have a few songs that we have played consistently over the years, and we are very happy that we will be...

Twist and Turn
We just received word of what this weeks twist is, and...oh boy. We need to take our "signature song" and cut it to only 2:30 without going over. Amberstein does not simply play 2:30 versions of our songs...so this could be interesting. Last...

World's Worst iPod: Somebody's Watching Me by Rockwell
In 1984, Rockwell rose to number 2 for 3 weeks in 1984 with "Somebody's Watching Me." The backup singer for the song was Michael Jackson. How did Rockwell get Jackson to help him? Well, Rockwell's real name is Kennedy William Gordy and he...

Have you heard the song "Rumble and Sway" yet on Triple M? The singer sounds like a raspy blues dude who's definitely been around the block a few times....but surprisingly, Jamie N. Commons is only 23 years old! He was born in England, but...

New food of the week: Kale
Last week, I decided I would try one new, healthy food a week, and asked my facebook friends to make some suggestions. The first thing I tried was mango. I'm sure I've had other mango flavored things, and mango as part of something else, but...

World's Worst iPod: You Don't Bring Me Flowers
There's only one thing that might be worse than the Neil Diamond/Barbra Streisand duet "You Don't Bring Me Flowers." And that's Jonathan Suttin doing his best crooning...doing both parts. Most unpleasant. A lot of people liked this song...
