Can't get enough of that Fire

You may call me old fashioned and behind the times, but I can't get enough of Arcade Fire's "The Suburbs" that was released in August.  It's getting some radio play, but I like a lot of the songs that haven't been featured prominently. Some people may argue that this isn't their best work, but I think it fits well with their other albums.  Specifically, I love the haunting songs "Half Light I" and "Deep Blue."  Here's the title track below:

Those Drums are Bangin'

I personally have a soft spot for Brooklyn bands.  They always seem to be fresh and fun, if not a little weird.  Ever since I got a hold of Brooklyn based The Drums self titled album I cant seem to stop playing it. These guys put out a sound that is electro guitar pop with a hint of the beach boys and some 80's flair.  Most of the tracks are songs have the brightest and most sunshiney melodies you'll hear, the only twist is the lyrics are those of a heartbroken and dejected man.  A strange concept I know but they work like a great pick-me-up.  My advice, if youve been in a recent breakup put on this record and you will be the happiest you've ever  been...while feeling miserable.

Maximum Balloon

I am digging the new side project Maximum Balloon from TV on the Radio's Dave Sitek, released September 21 on DGC/Interscope. I've been feeling a little retro lately and this album has just enough keyboard and funkiness to keep my ears happy for days. Sometimes the sound is part-Talking Heads, while sometimes it's a little disco. The opening track "Groove Me" really sets it off - it's the kind of song you listen to before going on some sort of an epic adventure. Party on!

Here To Help
One small detail I like about Bonnaroo ... the security people's shirts say "Safety" and "Here to help". They seem well-trained and they do the things security folk do ... but I like the emphasis on safety and that they're doing these things...
