It's time to make the Oscars shorter. I'm sure the folks at ABC are very happy with the 3 and a half hour show because they can sell lots of commercials, but I'd love if the show was about 2 hours.
I don't really care who won for best sounding editing AND sound mixing. Same goes for make-up and do we really need to see who won for best short documentary? I understand that make-up and sound mixing are essential to a movie, but I just don't care. I think the key grip and best boy are also important, but I don't want to see the winners or hear their speeches.
I think Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin did a great job as hosts, but they didn't even get to do that much because there are so many awards to give out. Here's my proposed list of awards to be shown on television:
1) Best Supporting Actor/Actress
2) Best Actor/Actress
3) Foreign Language Film
4) Original and Adapted Screen play
5) Best Director
6) Best Film
