Live from Bonnaroo 2011

Yesterday at Bonnaroo, you couldn’t get a free moment if you tried.  The lineup was stacked with artists that couldn’t be missed, performances that had to be heard.  Everyone seemed to be enjoying stage hopping in order to hear the wide variety of artists whose performances exceedingly overlapped.  Here’s how my day went… Ben Sollee 1-2pm Belafleck & the Flecktones: The Original Line-Up 2-3:15pm Grace Potter & the Nocturnals 3:15-4:30 Warren Haynes Band 4-5:30pm The Decemberists 5:30-7 Ray LaMontagne 6:15-7:45pm Florence + the Machine 6:45-8:15 Bobby Long 8-8:50 Arcade Fire 11-12:30 + MORE! I had a hard time making decisions – who to see, how long to stay at which performances, & when to eat/sit.  Straight from Vermont, Grace Potter proved that her music was “rock” label worthy as thousands of people watched – her voice captured a tone that most singers could not pull off in a controlled manner as she masterfully does herself.  She also impressed with her guitar skills & simultaneous head banging/luring electric piano playing.   And the Nocturnals entertained with solos from their guitarists + the happiest face that you will ever see from any drummer out there.  Ray LaMontagne also mesmerized the crowd with his shy/humble demeanor and calming voice.  His song choices included several songs off of his recently released album, “God willin’ and the Creek Don’t Rise.”  And believe me when I say they are as good live as they are recorded.  You wouldn’t have even been able to point out a discrepancy had he not sang as freely as he did.  The highlight of Friday night – the headliner. Arcade Fire, captured the attention of the entire mass of 100,000 people attending Bonnaroo.  About 15 minutes before they took the stage, something that no one will forget happened…read on to the next post for the details… Listen to the Ray LaMontagne interview below! Good news for Midwest coach accused of child pornography. ~Stevi
Minnesota State, Mankato coach Todd Hoffner has been living a nightmare since last May, when he was accused of having child pornography on his work phone. If you remember, last May was also around the time Penn State head coach was fired and brought up...

World's Worst iPod:Jay Ferguson "Thunder Island"
The late 1970s weren't necessarily a great time for music, but there were a few gems. This song may or may not have been one of them. We got a lot of love for Jay Ferguson's "Thunder Island" which was a hit in early 1978. It made it up to...

I think my heart may have stopped beating
Dear Superstars, During last night's elimination I think my heart may have stopped beating and that would've been it's own "drive-by heartache." This competition is tough but I'm very proud for making it through the first challenge. My level of...

Songs for Tax Day
So I learned today that if you're getting a refund, there's no penalty for not getting your taxes in by today's deadline. But why would you want the government to keep your money any longer than they already do? With that question in mind...

'Blood Moon' not as scary as it sounds. ~Stevi
Were you able to catch the 'blood moon' last night? It was a beautiful spectical presented by nature and the atmosphere that caused the moon to change color, ranging from bright orange to blood red. Not sure what it means or why it's such a...

Believe In The Possibilities Of The Impossible
Dear Superstars, This is a quick love letter to all of you supporting me during the Project M competition. The response from "Light Blue Sweater" last week was huge and I hope I can make a big splash with "Drive-By Heartache." It means more to me...

Blood Moon: reason to stay up late, or end of the world?
There's a preacher in Texas who's a little freaked out about tonight's lunar eclipse, and the three that follow every six months over the next two years. He thinks it's a signal of the end of the world!, and has even written a book...

Bully gets taste of his own medicine. ~Stevi
This. Is. Amazing: After terrorzing a family with disabled children, a judge sentences a man to hold a sign which read "I am a bully I pick on children..." The man says the sentence "ruined my life". I say, lesson learned. Hopefully, the justice...
