Listen: Gotye - Making Mirrors

The new Gotye song Someone That I Used To Know is blowing up the request lines here at Triple M.  It's from his third release Making Mirrors out now.

The record was five years in the making.  Gotye aka Wally De Backer, an Australian singer-songwriter, was previously drawn to the technical side of making music and worked with a lot with samples.  This time out he pushed himself a bit more.

De Backer says, "Partly it’s setting myself a greater creative challenge to not use exactly the same process as on my last album and to not piggyback on other people’s creativity.  I wanted to try to make sounds that are as rich and exciting as the ones that jump out of old records to me that I feel like grabbing and doing something with. I want to see if I can be a good enough engineer or player or musician to make things that have that kind of spark.”

If the reaction to the first single is any indication.. mission accomplished.  Check out Making Mirrors in it's entirety including the single Someone That I Used To Know featuring New Zealand singer Kimbra here.

Love this song!!
Discovered this song a while back from Marcus's playlist on the Mumford & sons website. Was thrilled when I heard it on 105.5 in my car! Another good one I discovered there was a song called "When my time comes" by Dawes. Great harmonies! I hope to hear that on my favorite station too!!

Addicted...
Heard this song first on Triple M and it was love at first sight. The only cure for this addiction is to keep listening to this track till I can get my hands on the CD. Thanks, I think! :)
