Fans of The Black Keys will probably dig Heartless Bastards. They both have Ohio roots, and a crunchy, bluesy sound that screams rock ‘n roll in its pure, raw form. The kind of music you’d imagine you’d hear blaring from the speakers at a sweaty, dirty, club show. Think of Heartless Bastards as a slightly-twangy, female-fronted Black Keys. The comparison is warranted – lead guitarist/singer Erika Wennerstrom & crew were signed to Fat Possum Records after Black Keys drummer Patrick Carney heard their demo. Heartless Bastards have since left Fat Possum, and they’ll be releasing their newest album, Arrow, on Partisan Records next Tuesday (aww, Valentine’s Day).
