Jer Coons

jercoonsLet's face it. I like the cute young boys, particularly the ones who make good music. It's always a thrill to discover a new artist who bursts on the scene with great potential. Hear one of his songs featured on New Music Thursday Oct 1 Meet Jer Coons, a 20 year old who MIGHT have been on American Idol if he hadn't slept through the auditions. Now, since his bio also says he was raised by a family of marsupials until he was 6, I think we need to take that   American  Idol comment with a grain of salt. He's been compared to lots of artists like Howie Day jack Johnson and Jason Mraz and has some pretty funny comments about the comparisons on his website: click here However...the kid's music speaks for itself. His debut album " Speak" is out and is full of catchy songs that sound familiar the first time you hear them. Decide for youself with this video of his single " Legs". Oh yeah, and come join me on Wednesday Oct 14 for Jer's FREE show at the Majestic Theater!

This kid is awesome, like he said in a recent interview,"My music sounds like John Mayer and Jason Mraz were riding on a tandem bike and collided with Jimi Hendrix playing the Beatles on his IPod!" Go see the show, you will be hooked on Jer Coons

World's Worst iPod: Jump 'N The Saddle Band "The Curly Shuffle"
A silly novelty tune with a jump swing beat took the country by storm--at least parts of it--in early 1984. A Chicago band called Jump 'N The Saddle scored a #15 with the Curly Shuffle...and it seems a lot of people have some pretty awesome...

World's Worst iPod:The Human League "(Keep Feeling) Fascination
It was almost a clean-sweep this morning for the synthesizer heavy "(Keep Feeling) Fascination") by the Human League. Everybody was in the mood for a little 80s fun! It made it up to #8 on the charts in 1983, a couple of years after the British pop...

World's Worst iPod:Dr. Hook "When You're in Love With a Beautiful Woman"
Here's a song that inspired high-schoolers to act like 12-year-olds back in the late 1970's. The lyric "when you're in love with a beautiful woman, it's hard," was just so darn hilarious!! Dr. Hook had a lot of hits in the 70s, and...

World's Worst iPod:Escape Club "Wild Wild West"
Remember when we were headed for the 90s..and grooving to the Escape Club? This band from London scored a number 1 hit in 1988 with the song "Wild Wild West." It's probably the only song you remember from that band--but they weren't a...

World's Worst iPod: Wayne Newton "Daddy Don't You Walk So Fast"
With Father's Day coming up, we thought we'd choose one of the greatest dad songs of all time.  But since that song wasn't on the iPod, we decided to go with "Daddy Don't You Walk So Fast" by Wayne Newton. This song made...

Day 4: The Final Day of Bonnaroo
Today was another busy day at Bonnaroo. We started the day off by seeing Shakey Graves. I missed his show in Madison earlier this year so he was a must see on my list. Loved him! Right as he ended, a press conference with Ed Helms, Abigail...

Day 3: Saturday
Saturday was a very busy day! So many Triple M bands to see! So many concerts were back to back, so we did a lot of walking back and forth from the stages to the media compound. If you're ever in need of getting more steps in during the day,...

Day 2: Friday - Variety, the Spice of Life
Day 2 is upon us! Despite being up fairly late and not sleeping super well (first time camping...I'll get used to it I'm sure), I was hoping to sleep in just a little bit, but my body had other plans. It woke me up at 5:45am for the hell of it. I...
