What does Kitty have to say?

It's hotter than blue blazes, whatever that means

Yes, it's hot out there kids. In fact, it's hotter than blue blazes!

This is a phrase that I've been known to use, despite the fact that I have no idea how hot a blue blaze, in fact, is. Where does this saying come from?

This is something my mom used to say, and even though she passed away many years ago, I'm keeping it alive, or at least trying to keep it going.

I looked it up at urbandictionary.com , and they define it thusly: an imaginary place somewhere on earth that is said to be excruciatingly hot. Invented by old people.

Since my mom would be 91 if she were around, I guess that qualifies. Maybe she invented it.

I did a quick internet search, and found a few more "hotter than" sayings that I don't think my mom would be comfortable saying. Among them "hotter than a whorehouse on nickel night" and "hotter than two rats rutting in a wool sock."

As for me, I'll stick to "hotter than blue blazes." Or "hotter than a tater bug."  That's kind of cute.

Blue Blzaes
Of course you know that the blue part of the fire is the hottest hence, hot as blue blazes. Tim told me that at least that is what he thinks it means. Just thought I would jot that down for ya.

Happy 69th birthday to my favorite self-proclaimed "rich hippie," Neil Young. I remember when I was a kid, I hated Neil's voice. I didn't even particularly care for his songs CSNY albums, but the guy grew on me, and he's now one of my...
