Kitty Dunn

What does Kitty have to say?

I'll drink to that (song)

What a dilemma! I've got Van Halen cranked up loud on my boom box, but have no idea what form of alcohol I should be slamming to go along with it.

That problem is now a thing of the past, thanks to a fun new website called "Drinkify." I'm assuming that the name is some kind of take-off on the music sharing platform Spotify. I've never explored that world, but I will tell you that "Drinkify" is right up my alley.

Simply type the name of a band or artist into the search engine, and Drinkify comes up with the perfect match. I figured, like most of these types of sites (think the band name generator type sites), that there would be a finite number of combinations. I also figured their selection of bands that would be included would be limited. But it's not!

I typed in John Hiatt, and the site suggested I drink 1 oz. of Canadian Club whiskey, serve on the rocks, stir vigorously and serve with a  sparkler.

A sparkler? Nice touch. What about R.E.M.? One PBR, serve cold. Not imaginative enough, I thought, for one of my favorite bands.

For Eau Claire native Bon Iver, this is what popped up: 1 bottle red wine at room temperature, garnished with a twist of grapefruit. Hmm..sounds weird, but fitting.

The cocktail to drink with the folk music of Joan Baez was 1 oz Canadian Club whiskey (ooh a repeat)..but mixed with 10 ounces of wheatgrass juice. Much better.

And what should I drink with that aforementioned Van Halen cassette?  1 bottle of Jack Daniels Tennessee whiskey. "Serve on rocks," it suggested. "Garnish with cocktail monkey."

Now I will never see another cocktail monkey without thiking of Eddie Van Halen.

Click here if you want to give Drinkify a spin..

Gotta love the '80s! Depending on who you're talking to, Kajagoogoo's "Too Shy" is either a song that defines the decade, in a good way, or it's a song that gives all other '80s songs a bad name. It made it to #5 on the charts in...

Happy 69th birthday to my favorite self-proclaimed "rich hippie," Neil Young. I remember when I was a kid, I hated Neil's voice. I didn't even particularly care for his songs CSNY albums, but the guy grew on me, and he's now one of my...

World's Worst iPod: Mac and Katie Kissoon "Chirpy Chirpy Cheep"
There was a lot of love this morning for a song that made it up to #20 in 1971 for the brother sister team of Mac and Katie Kissoon. The pair hailed from Trinidad and this was their only Top 40 hit.
