I managed to avoid the Michael Jackson memorial yesterday in its entirety. Like a lot of people, I'm getting a little overstuffed with the story. And I don't mean that disrespectfully in any way.
Having said all that, now I'm kind of bummed that I didn't watch it, or catch the nine minutes of coverage the network news gave the story. Jonathan told me all about today, and we played clips from it, and yes...some of the tributes made me tear up a bit (especially his daughter..and dare I say it, Brooke Shields.)
So now I've started checking out some of the clips of the service on youtube, and was quite impressed with John Mayer's instrumental version of Human Nature. Mayer told Larry King that he was approached by the Jackson family to perform at the event at the Staples Center, and of course he couldn't refuse.
It's really quite good, but try not to pay attention to his "guitar faces." They can be a little disconcerting.
