In April of 2010, the company my husband works for transfered him from Chicago, Illinois to Maryland. I was devastated. The move was good for our immediate family, however, I was sad to leave my family and friends in the Midwest. Very close to our move, I began feeling extremely sick. I was nauseous, dizzy and had severe headaches. I kept telling myself I was bringing this illness on myself because I was sad to leave my comfort zone. Our move to Maryland occurred in May of 2010. The move went well, we started to settle in Maryland and my symptoms continued to get worse. I finally decided I needed to go to the emergency room. While in the ER I was diagnosed with vertigo and sent home with medication. After one day of the medication I knew something was seriously wrong, so I scheduled an appointment with an Ear, Nose and Throat specialist. At that appointment the ENT took one look at me and could tell there was something neurologically wrong with me and sent me in immediately for an MRI. The MRI was given the next day and at that appointment I was diagnosed with a Meningioma Brain Tumor. After several visits with a Neurological Surgeon and an Oncologist it was suggested that I undergo Radiation treatments via the CyberKnife Robotic Radiosurgery System. During each treatment I asked the doctors to put in my Jason Mraz CD's so I could listen to his wonderful voice as my entire body was strapped to a table including my face sealed with a mesh netting and forced to stay still during my several hour treatments. This September, my husband surprised me with ground seats to Jason's concert which was held at the Merriweather Pavilion in Columbia, MD. My dream had come true. What an amazing day to watch my favorite artist perform live. Jason, thank you for helping me through difficult times and for continuing to give me peace.
