Some thoughts for National Punctuation Day, celebrated each year on September 24:
Poorly placed punctuation is one of my pet peeve's pet peeves.
It seems the apostrophe is quite often put where it is not needed. Or where it's not needed, if you please. (It is needed there).
I love that punctuation marks, when placed randomly, and in a cartoon bubble, can be a non-offensive replacement for swearing.
I realize that the overuse of exclamation points is a sign of a lazy writer. Seriously!!!!!!
I don't remember if there was ever a Schoolhouse Rocks cartoon done for punctuation, so in its place I offer this video. The song by Dan Baird (formerly of the Georgia Satellites) is a musical love letter to punctuation.
