It's hard to believe that he's 65! Holy Fretboard, Batman!
I'll admit I didn't become a fan of Jeff Beck until I met my boyfriend Mike. He's a guitar player who's a complete freak about Jeff Beck and rightly so. He and I went to see Jeff a couple of times at the Eagles Ballroom in Milwaukee, and I was blown away. I also enjoyed the fact that so many guitar players (or wannabe guitar players) were there, because just about every one was wearing Fender Stratocaster T-shirts. And because most of them were guys, the line for the ladies' rest room was really short.
I also saw Jeff Beck at the Madison Blues Fest the last year it was held. This is a cool backstage tidbit I heard..no one was allowed to talk to Jeff unless he talked to you first...more proof of how cool it is to be a rock star. (I also heard he was spotted backstage sitting on a park bench, looking at the beautiful lake!)
I love Jeff's stuff with the Yardbirds..and the Jeff Beck group..but was really blown away by his cover of the Beatles' A Day in the Life. He did it one of the times we saw him in Milwaukee, and also at the Crossroads Guitar Festival a couple of years ago in Chicago.
Check this video out..and pay attention to the bass player too. She's unbelievable!

There's only one thing that might be worse than the Neil Diamond/Barbra Streisand duet "You Don't Bring Me Flowers." And that's Jonathan Suttin doing his best crooning...doing both parts. Most unpleasant.
