What does Kitty have to say?

Haiku for Brett Favre

There was a lot of emotion on our show this morning, over one of the  important issues of the ages...that's right.....Brett Favre and his legacy.

Now that he says he's retiring again, it brings up all the unpleasant feelings that we went through last year--first sobbing along with him as he bid us adieu, then feeling hurt and confused when he un-retired (does he know how many Kleenexes we went through?), and ultimately feeling betrayed when he went to the New York Jets. I compared it to a marriage or long term relationship. We had a great 16 year run..then he walked out on us..tried to come back in exalted glory...then when we slammed the door on him he got into a rebound relationship (which failed!) Sorry I'm still hurt and am not ready to kiss and make up, and erect a statue to Favre just yet. I did enjoy an analogy a listener suggested this morning--that it's like the old TV show Friends..that Brett and the Packers are Ross and Rachel. They fell in love, then broke up and when they were on a break went out with other people..but ultimately reunited.  While I'm not hoping for a teary eyed reunion, I am grateful we at least don't have to watch this Brett Favre sitcom play out over and over in syndication. While I could blog on and on about this..I've decided to end this post with a simple haiku, summarizing my feelings.

Kisses once honey

Now bitter salmonella

I grieve no longer

I too feel like he stabbed us in the back and still not over him leaving us and it is NOT the Packer organization's fault. Ted Thompson and Coach Mike McCarthy had a meeting planned with him on Arpil 1st of last year to discuss his come back and two days before the meeting Favre called and said he was going to stay retired, so who's fault was that and his year as a New York Jet was a disaster. I still feel betrayed and if he does go to Minnesota that would just stick the knive in deeper and then twist the knife. He would be booed off the field in home games and games in Minnesota, what is he thinking. I just wish I knew the REAL resaon he left. That is something we will never know or not know for many, many years. What was said in the meeting with him and Coach McCarthy. McCarthy said his head wasn't in the right place, whatever that means. I know in the playoff game that would have taken us to the Super Bowl just seemed like there wasn't any fire in their bellies. I will always wonder what happened with Favre and the Packers. I cried like a baby when he retired and had to actually lay down in bed cuz my eyes were puffed shut. I can say that I am not happy with him and will take many, many years to get over.

Have you heard the song "Rumble and Sway" yet on Triple M? The singer sounds like a raspy blues dude who's definitely been around the block a few times....but surprisingly, Jamie N. Commons is only 23 years old! He was born in England, but...

New food of the week: Kale
Last week, I decided I would try one new, healthy food a week, and asked my facebook friends to make some suggestions. The first thing I tried was mango. I'm sure I've had other mango flavored things, and mango as part of something else, but...

World's Worst iPod: You Don't Bring Me Flowers
There's only one thing that might be worse than the Neil Diamond/Barbra Streisand duet "You Don't Bring Me Flowers." And that's Jonathan Suttin doing his best crooning...doing both parts. Most unpleasant. A lot of people liked this song...

Last weeks challenge we thought went excellent! Of course we are a little biased. The drinking song couldn't have been any better, or any less fun. We had a blast through out the whole process, and our performance rocked. This week is an easy...

World's Worst iPod: The Girl is Mine by Michael Jackson and Paul McCartney
So the story goes Michael Jackson completed this song while watching cartoons with Paul McCartney. We'll just let that sink in for a moment. Not sure what cartoons they were watching, but it must have worked because this song made it to number 2...
