Gift ideas: more for the kids

spoonsLooking for more great gift ideas for kids? I'm not sure you've come to the right place, but thank you anyway.  I've found a few more that seem a bit questionable. Giant Spoons is made by Patch Products in Beloit, Wisconsin. I hate to slam a Wisconsin company, but you really don't need to buy this game to play it. It's basically the same old Spoons game where you play a card game, and when you get 4 of a kind..you grab a spoon. And the slowest one loses out. I guess if you use the spoons from the silverware drawer, they aren't GIANT spoons. Next they're going to tell me you have to buy KICK THE CAN(tm). Here's a game I don't think I want in my house. It's Interactive Toy Concepts Duck Hunter.  A toy duck flies around the room and your child tries to shoot it down. I'm not making this up. (Hey Earl...can you secure the knick knacks?) In case you hadn't guessed, this one is available at Farm & Fleet, if it hasn't already sold out.

Giant Spoons is based off of a classic, homemade game, but often people don't remember how to play. So when you purchase Giant Spoons you not only get a quality-made game of sturdy, cool giant spoons and cards, you get the rules and you support the Wisconsin families who make this game. If Pet Rocks can sell, why not spoons? However, if you are looking for more unique and creative games then check out www.patchproducts.com, which offers over 700 different toys, games, and puzzles including their best-selling Buzzword game. Buzzword has just sold over 1 million copies.

World's Worst iPod: Torn Between Two Lovers by Mary MacGregor
Today's song was written by Peter Yarrow of Peter, Paul and Mary. It was inspired by the 1957 novel Doctor Zhivago. No one was inspired by the song this morning. It was rejected by almost all the listeners.
Kitty used to be a Goth--almost
Today is World Goth Day, a day to celebrate the post-punk, anti-establishment, dark clothes-wearing subculture. I'm pretty sure I was a Goth for at least for little while, for two reasons. 1) I almost hardly ever wear pastels. 2) I used to...
